Cross-Border Legacy Foundation USA 🇺🇸 is blessed with Augustine SIMO (AKA LE PRO) who has committed to serve as Programs Officer for Football (Soccer) at Cross-Border Legacy Sports Academy USA and Cameroon. In its quest to invest in 501c3 NONPROFIT SPORTS YOUTH FOOTBALL (SOCCER) DEVELOPMENT from Boston Massachusetts spanning through his Fatherland, Cameroon to the Central and West African Sub-Regions. Augustine is one of the prolific, swift-footed 10-shirt household names in Cameroonian and European football with a long, world-class-career, cumulatively as a player and coach.
Simo was a revelation of the famous École de Football des Brasseries du Cameroon from 1987 to 1992 when he switched to Second-Division Football at ADIDAS FC, then to PWD Social Club of Bamenda (ABAKWA BOYS) which he led to the First Division in 1995. Before too long, he caught the eyes of the management of Aigle Nkongsamba but was called to captain the Junior Indomitable Lions Team of Cameroon which he again Captained to win a Gold Medal at the 1995 Junior African Cup of Nations in Nigeria.
The doors of the Cameroonian Senior National Team were flung open to him, where he played from 1995 to 1998, participating in two African Nations Cup final stages and the World Cup 1998 in France. When he retired from international football, Simo immediately switched to youth football coaching, working his way up the coaching license ladder and holds a EUROPEAN UNION FOOTBALL ASSOCIATION (UEFA) B-YOUTH LICENSE. His prowess led to his appointment as Assistant Coach of the Indomitable Lions of Cameroon from 2021 to 2024. He has to his credit a record-breaking first ever victory of an African Team over Brazil at the group stage of the World Cup (in Qatar,2022) and a quarter-final stage qualification for Cameroon at the 2023 African Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Côte d’Ivoire.
